Calibration system for microphones

When calibrating microphones, it is necessary to consider a wide frequency range. This is provided by the Model 9917C Microphone Comparison Calibrator, which can be used to calibrate both precision measurement microphones and array microphones in accordance with IEC 61094-5 over a frequency range from 20 Hz to 10 kHz. The calibrator has two ½-inch microphone ports, each of which can be used to connect a reference microphone and a test microphone. Adapters for ¼-inch measurement microphones are included.

Combined with the Model 9000A SmartSine™, a compact closed-loop function generator, the 9917C creates a calibration system for microphones that can be quickly and easily deployed in the field and in the lab.

The 9000A SmartSine™ provides defined amplitudes and frequencies to drive the calibration system in the frequency range from 0.5 Hz to 20 kHz. Microphones can be connected and supplied at the two ICP®/IEPE inputs. In addition to the input for the DUT, the function generator has a control loop input for a reference microphone. The integrated display shows the sensitivity calculated by means of comparative measurement. The user can save up to 500 calibration data sets in the instrument memory. After completion of the measurements, these values can be transferred to a USB memory stick and further processed into DIN 17025-compliant calibration certificates.
