Force measurement axis MEMS
2016-08-11 01:17:54, BROSA GmbH Force measuring axes for measurement, e.g. in rope pulleys, require a constant wrap around of the rope so that the direction of force application of the resulting force remains constant. Often, an auxiliary roller on the crane boom must be used to keep the wrap constant at different boom positions.
BROSA has developed a force measurement axis that can output the line load to the PLC independently of the wrap around the rope sheave, even varying within a defined angle range.
A measurement in the foremost sheave on the crane boom is thus possible, minimizes friction losses, the design effort as well as rope wear and material usage.
The force measurement axis as a proven means of recording forces in eye-bolt connections can open up further fields of application through new technologies and solve measurement tasks that could previously only be mastered with more complex concepts. The additional functions described in this article have also been applied to BROSA force measurement sleeves (patented sensor design) and offer even more advantages in terms of design.
The increased versatility of the force measurement axis due to the additional functions certainly offers even more opportunities to make crane operation safer and more efficient through innovative ideas. BROSA, with its many years of experience as a development partner, will be happy to help.
