Hygienic design: pms ultrasonic sensor

The unusual geometry of the housing fulfills an important requirement of hygienic design: Regardless of whether the sensor has to measure from top to bottom for a level measurement or horizontally when detecting objects, in no mounting position does a housing surface have a horizontal orientation. This ensures in every assembly situation that cleaning fluids can always drain off completely.

The pms with its stainless steel housing has been designed without gaps and dirt edges and is also optimally suited for intensive cleaning and disinfection. Bacteria cannot find a foothold on the smooth surfaces of the sensor and cleaning agents run off completely in any installation position. The PTFE-encapsulated ultrasonic transducer protects the sensor membrane from chemically aggressive cleaning agents. Cables can be routed outside the process for a hygienic solution.

With four different scanning distances, the new pms ultrasonic sensors cover a wide measuring range from 20 mm to 1.3 m. The sensors are available with a push-pull switching output and IO-Link version 1.1 as well as with analog output 0-10 V and 4-20 mA.
