MSR145: Application examples

Beispiel 1: Monitoring of soot particle filters. In an aluminum housing with IP65 protection, an MSR data logger measures the differential pressure upstream of the particulate filter, exhaust gas temperature, and optionally also the speed. Normal or malfunction can be signaled in the cockpit via a 3-color LED. In addition, an automatic shutdown of the machine can be triggered via the speed control. All measured values are stored and can be evaluated afterwards.

Example 2: How does the cow chew? The Swiss agricultural research institute Agroscope wanted to know when, how and why cows chew in the barn. The type and frequency of chewing movements can be used to draw conclusions about metabolic diseases at a very early stage: first of all, this requires reliable basic data. Using a hose filled with liquid and a pressure sensor, it is possible for the MSR data loggers, in conjunction with downstream evaluation software, to clearly and reliably distinguish between the different types of mastication of the livestock.

Example 3: Popular Science with "Galileo". The knowledge magazine "Galileo" (ProSieben) wanted to find out whether mediaeval myths that have been propagated by film and television can be recreated in real life in the Robin Hood manner. For example, is it possible to have people throw catapults over walls. For this purpose, 3-axial acceleration data loggers of the type MSR165 were inserted into dummies, which then performed the "catapult long throw" first as a test: as it turned out, a human being would not survive the accelerations of 10G occurring during the landing ...
