SIL seminar series "Optimization of PCT protection functions according to IEC 61508/IEC61511"

On November 29, 2016, the seminar series "Optimization of PCT protection functions according to IEC 61508/IEC61511" of the KROHNE Academy starts. The organizers are TÜV NORD, HIMA, PHOENIX CONTACT, Ingenieurbüro Urban, SAMSON and KROHNE. As a media partner, the trade magazine CHEMIE TECHNIK supports the series. The series is aimed at plant engineers and operators in the chemical, oil and gas, power plant and energy sectors, as well as in all other areas where there are plant components with potential hazards.

Two double dates will take place in Freiburg (29.-30.11.) and Hockenheim (01.-02.12.). The focus of the event is on the optimization of PCE protection devices, with particular emphasis on the extension of test intervals. Here, the three most important criteria are examined in detail:
- Restrictions due to other regulations, e.g. Industrial Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV-2015) or Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU), which, in addition to IEC 61508, make statements on test intervals
- Optimization of the PFD calculation of the protective functions
- Requirements of the component manufacturers for sensors, actuators and the safety controllers

As a special highlight, two presentations will be held by the publicly appointed and sworn experts of Ingenieurbüro Urban on the procedure for and assessments of damage cases. In addition, NAMUR AK 4.5 will give a guest lecture on both dates on the application of the new NE106 "Flexible testing of SIS field devices".
