Strain gauge chains of types KY consist of 10 or 15 very small measuring grids, which are mounted at a constant distance (equidistant) on a common carrier, plus a compensating strain gauge. Strain gage chains are particularly suitable for determining strain curves. HBM also supplies strain gage chains with several rosettes and alternating measuring grid directions, so that the course of a biaxial stress state can also be determined.
