Due to the applied sputtered straingage technology, these novel accelerometers allow particularly small dimensions, a low dead weight and last but not least an oil damping of the seismic mass of the transducer. In this combination, these new damped accelerometers offer the advantage over undamped accelerometers that output signal overshoots of a measurement near the upper cutoff frequency are almost completely eliminated.
