AP4 and AG4 with sleep mode
2015-07-27 07:01:07, Angst+Pfister Sensors and Power AGThe digital A4 series is a dual-chip system consisting of a MEMS sensor chip and a signal-processing ASIC chip that enables digital signal processing and communication via the I2C protocol. The dual-chip system also allows the integration of a power-saving function. The ASIC chip is switched off when the pressure monitoring unit is not in operation and only switches on again (wake-up function) when the pressure measurement requires this.
The power saving mode (also called "sleep mode") reduces the power consumption of the pressure measuring device considerably and is therefore particularly suitable for battery-operated devices or if only limited power is available. For example, the ASIC chip has a quiescent current of only 0.8 mA in power-saving mode (at 3.0 volts DC supply), which is a 70% reduction from the 2.4 mA current consumption in data processing mode.
At the heart of the ASIC is a 14-bit AD converter that has the equivalent sensitivity of 7 Pa/LSB of a 100-kPa full-scale sensor under optimal conditions. Six slave address codes can be assigned to the pressure sensor for individual communication with the microcontroller master. The pressure sensors are supplied in Fujikura's usual high-quality packaging, with tray, tape and reel or stick, depending on customer requirements.
The standard measuring range is between 0 and 250 mbar and 0 and 12 bar, other measuring ranges are possible on request. The pressure measurement range can be configured for positive, negative or bidirectional readings and the supply voltage for 3.0 volts, 3.3 volts or 5.0 volts DC.
