HBM celebrates 20th anniversary of its plant in China

In July 1997, the time had come: Measurement specialist HBM Test and Measurement opened its large production site in the ancient imperial city of Suzhou near Shanghai. Today, the plant is not only an important pillar in the company's production chain. It is also the nucleus for the systematic development of the Chinese market, where quality and innovation are increasingly becoming decision-making factors.

With the opening of the production site in the then Suzhou Special Economic Zone, HBM was one of the pioneers in the industry. In addition to the production sites in Darmstadt and Marlboro (USA), which still exist today, this added another pillar to the company's international orientation. Another milestone was the subsequent occupation of the current plant building in 2003.

High-volume load cells, for example, are produced at the China plant. The market is also achieving great success with customer-specific, so-called OEM sensors.

The consistent adherence to the quality promise of the HBM brand over the past 20 years is considered a special achievement of the approximately 700 employees.

ISO 9001 certification, as well as internal quality audits that far exceed market standards, form an important foundation.

Since its establishment, the plant has also functioned as an important distribution site. With the country's development into a leading global high-tech location, HBM's high-quality measurement technology is also in high demand there by local companies. For example, HBM measurement amplifiers collect important measurement data from the world-famous Chinese high-speed trains. Other areas of application include aerospace projects, the automotive industry, mechanical engineering and the country's construction industry.
