iDoor from Advantech: New connectivity concept

iDoor makes it easy to equip UNOs and TPCs with different interfaces and digital I/Os. This enables cost-effective adaptation to customer-specific requirements. Advantech uses the new iDoor concept in the touch panel PC (TPC-1582H), among others, as well as in the newer compact PCs of the UNO class (UNO -2362G, UNO-2483G). Other devices are under development.

iDoor is Advantech's answer to the demand for more flexibility: The new modular strategy makes it possible to equip the devices with additional interfaces and functions. The integration is done via Mini-PCI cards, which can be combined with different connector plates. In addition, the devices can be equipped with WLAN, GSM or GPRS.

So far there are iDoor modules for the following protocols or interface (some more are in preparation):

Hilscher Fieldbus, Profibus,
CANopen
Digital I/O and counter
Memory (MRAM with battery backup)
RS-422/485 (2 port, 4 port)
RS-232 (2 port, 4 port)
The new iDoor concept significantly expands the range of applications for the devices intended for it and offers a high degree of future-proofing, as adaptation to new conditions is possible at any time.
