Due to ever shorter product life cycles, manufacturers of mechatronic systems and test benches are faced with the challenge of combining maximum flexibility of the systems and high quality of the production results. The built-in measurement technology must therefore be scalable and able to adapt to a wide variety of processes and the volumes of data they generate. HBM Test and Measurement (HBM) has developed the PMX industrial amplifier, a high-resolution, interference-free and transparent measurement system for highly dynamic production plants and processes.

The PMX measurement amplifier combines adaptable and precise measurement technology with real-time control and regulation functions. For the exact acquisition of quantities such as torque, pressure, force or frequency, PMX has 4 measuring channels with 4 measuring cards each, which read in up to 16 sensor signals. Using analog signal outputs or Ethernet-based fieldbuses such as ProfiNet or EtherCAT, PMX passes on the measurement results to higher-level plant controllers or the integrated CODESYS operating and control software. With this software platform, PMX can visualize, evaluate and archive all data via online monitoring. PMX analyzes and controls the processes via 32 calculation channels (Smart Functions). They work in real time and generate parameters such as power, average and peak values up to PID control - independent of the user's programming skills. The PMX measurement amplifier system thus combines a measurement technology system with automation solutions as well as high adaptability, while being easy to operate and efficient. Because with the integrated web server, PMX can also be controlled and maintained via web browsers from tablets and smartphones.
