New strain gauge series

Founded in 2017, the Saarbrücken-based company, a specialist in customized thin-film-based sensor elements, has developed a new series in its strain gauge category. Characterized by increased moisture protection, this further development of the highly sensitive strain gauges is primarily addressed to applications from weighing technology, especially when hermetic encapsulation is not possible.
Strain gauges from CeLaGo Sensors are characterized not only by their increased sensitivity, but also by their enormous adaptability. By flexibly adapting the outer and inner contours of the strain gauges, as well as modifying the electrical resistance over a wide range, it has thus been possible to offer highly customized and energy-saving sensors to date.
"By using LCP, i.e. a so-called liquid crystal polymer, and integrating this material into the production of thin-film strain gauges for the first time, we have succeeded in raising the performance of our strain gauges to a higher level," explains Dirk Göttel, head of development at CeLaGo Sensors, and continues: "We are thus in a position to make the strain gages we have offered up to now additionally less sensitive to the effects of moisture with the familiar flexibility. In applications where the influence of moisture is to be minimized, this new variant can now be tested and evaluated by pilot customers."
