OPTISONIC 8300: New ultrasonic flowmeter for superheated steam
2015-03-23 05:24:40, Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer GmbHSince steam line downtime is very costly and must be avoided at all costs, the OPTISONIC 8300 was designed for long-term use: It features a transducer with a free tube cross-section without moving parts or internals and a stable and robust design without exposed cables or sensitive components. The instrument is thus able to maintain measurement accuracy unchanged for up to 20 years without the need for maintenance or subsequent calibration, while reducing operating costs to a minimum. If it is necessary to check the measurement accuracy, the diagnostic functions of the flowmeter can be used for this purpose without having to remove the flowmeter.
With nominal diameters DN 100...1000 / 4...40" , the OPTISONIC 8300 is particularly suitable for high flow rates. Pressure ratings up to 200 bar / 3625 psi and temperature ratings up to 540 °C / 1004 °F are available. Solutions for higher requirements are available on request. With additional temperature and pressure sensors connected, the integrated volume corrector can calculate the steam mass flow rate.
With the OPTISONIC 8300, KROHNE complements its ultrasonic flow portfolio for process and custody transfer measurements with gases and liquids, for applications ranging from compressed air to liquefied natural gas (LNG).
