Series 9.5-APDs with increased NIR sensitivity up to 950 nm
2016-06-01 02:23:05, First Sensor AG Series 9.5 APDs with increased NIR sensitivity up to 950 nm
First Sensor's new Series 9.5 avalanche photodiodes achieve increased sensitivity in the near-infrared (NIR) wavelength range up to 950 nm. Due to their fast rise time and very low dark current, the photodiodes are particularly suitable for applications with low light intensities and high modulation frequencies, such as laser range finding and laser scanning. The slow increase of the gain of the Series 9.5 avalanche photodiodes with the reverse voltage allows precise and easy setting of a high gain factor.
First Sensor's Series 9.5 APDs offer excellent quantum efficiency of > 80% in the 730...930 nm range and can be optionally equipped with various bandpass filters. The very flat SMD ceramic packages are suitable for reflow soldering in industrial PCB assembly. Other housings and designs are available on request. With in-house semiconductor manufacturing and extensive development capabilities, First Sensor can customize all optical sensors to meet specific customer requirements, such as sensitivity, gain, rise time or capacitance.
The main features of the series 9.5 avalanche photodiodes:
Enhanced NIR sensitivity up to 950 nm
Fast rise time and very low dark current
Flat gain characteristic
Very flat SMD ceramic package
Typical applications of the new series 9.5-APDs with enhanced NIR sensitivity can be found in security scanners, 3D surveying, environmental monitoring, high-resolution LIDAR systems for autonomous driving, as well as high-speed photometers and optical communications.
