Short and sweet! 14.7mm speed sensor with PWM signal output

With the new FE PWM speed sensor from the FE series, RHEINTACHO presents a sensor that meets almost all user requirements. What stands out immediately about this sensor? The extremely small design in terms of housing diameter, housing length, or space requirement below and above the flange.

The main area of application for this sensor is hydraulic drives as used in particular in construction machinery and agricultural machinery.

Even during the initial design considerations, a design for extremely demanding operating conditions was taken into account. Thus, the sensor achieves protection classes IP67 and IP6K9K. Dirt, wetness and intensive cleaning methods at the installation site are therefore no problem.

The housing is made of special brass alloy. Due to this choice of material and an intelligent design, a pressure load capacity of the measuring surface is guaranteed.

This sensor also provides a direction of rotation signal in addition to the speed. In contrast to the 1-channel and 2-channel variants, the electronic design with pulse-width modulated output signal (PWM) works with a current signal in which the direction of rotation information is transmitted by the different length of the pulses. This sensor also provides a signal with constant amplitude, independent of the speed. The sensor is characterized not only by the detection of speed and direction of rotation, but also by additional diagnostic functions, e.g. standstill detection, critical sensing distance, critical mounting position.

In addition to this sensor, the RHEINTACHO FE series also offers other variants that are compatible with installation: 1-channel (speed only) and 2-channel (speed and direction of rotation) in the form of 2 phase-shifted square-wave signals.
