The new cloud-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) package from measurement specialist HBM Test and Measurement gives access to relevant condition data of traffic infrastructures, such as bridges or tunnels, at any time. Customers benefit from a ready-installed complete package for condition monitoring including data provision via the Internet.

The term "Structural Health Monitoring" (SHM) stands for the operational long-term monitoring of structures such as bridges or tunnels. With the help of characteristic values, structural inspection engineers are able to gain better insights into the condition and damage progress of the structure. In the event of safety-relevant events or special loads, operators can intervene in a targeted manner.

The Structural Health monitoring package incorporates the many years of application know-how of the measurement technology manufacturer HBM; this allows, for example, the free selection of the most suitable technology for the particular measurement task (e.g. based on strain gauge technology or fiber Bragg grating). Since the Structural Health Monitoring solution can be used via various billing models (e.g. monthly user fee), it is not absolutely necessary for the user to invest in measurement technology or to build up measurement know-how.
