periMICA is an edge computer that can run typical functions required by IoT applications, as well as specific functions such as data pre-processing (aggregation), local function control, displaying dashboards or forwarding data to more advanced IT systems. periMICA edge computers can also be combined with different hardware modules and software applications, depending on the application and environment The periMICA edge computer can also be extended with its own hardware and software elements.
periMICA is also a hosted lightweight virtual machine that can call on technologies in the cloud to set up applications. periMICA can also be thought of as a boxed data center that can switch the functionality of applications between the cloud and the field as needed.
Perinet also provides containers for the advanced functionality required in IoT applications, such as native MQTT agents. Thus, it is the first stop for data transfer from sensors or actuators to the cloud. Sensors and actuators are preferably connected via a network, as shown in the diagram below, in combination with Perinet's other products. Therefore, periMICA is also the ideal bus host for non-Ethernet sensors.
Power Module: The power module is used as the power supply and creates a connection to the local environment from where the operator can reach and configure the periMICA. each power module has an indication of the device status.
Processor Module: The processor module is the heart of the periMICA modular edge computer as it runs the software and connects the modules. The processor module is used to host and run your applications. Flash memory is the main memory of the Linux-based base system. periMICA base system uses two partitions, each taking up about 256 megabytes, or a total of about 512 megabytes in flash storage.
Function modules: Function modules are used to extend the periMICA functionality by adding application SPE-CI interfaces. The newly added interface can be either a dedicated interface like RS485 or a more general bus interface. The function module is intended to connect the application from anywhere you want to collect or read data and send data via Ethernet.
