Pressure transmitter ATM.mini: High precision sensor with flyweight
2015-05-26 07:29:03, STS Sensor Technik Sirnach AG Anyone who regularly takes precise measurements knows: The measuring device itself can also influence the data. These must then be subsequently cleaned up. Moreover, in some industries such as aerospace, even small increases in weight mean higher costs, so a measuring device that is as light as possible is almost a must. The ATM.mini pressure transmitter from Swiss precision supplier STS Sensortechnik solves such problems. Its weight is just 40 grams in a case with dimensions of 17x35 millimeters. "Our miniature transmitter combines a compact design with the usual sensor accuracy" says Marc Simmen, Product Manager at STS Sensortechnik.
The measurement accuracy meets the highest standards. At an outside temperature between -40 and 125° Celsius and a pressure of up to 70 bar, it is 0.05 percent FS. As a result, the miniature sensor has proven itself many times over, for example in the testing of prototypes. "This is what the tuning specialists at Mercedes-AMG, for example, rely on to put new engines through their paces. But aircraft manufacturers and plant or ship builders also use our sensor to test their developments in order to get them ready for series production," says Simmen. Thanks to its small external dimensions, the ATM.mini can be mounted even on small and angled components.
An optional, so-called "burn-in" further improves the long-term measurement accuracy. "With this process, STS already eliminates the minimal stresses given in the sensor by the mechanics at the factory," says Simmen. For the output signal, customers can choose whether the measured values are transmitted via a current signal (mA) or a voltage signal (VDC).
Available in a durable stainless steel finish, plus a variety of available process connections and electrical connections. "Thanks to this modular product concept, we deliver an application-ready product within seven working days, regardless of the desired quantity," says Simmen. For customers who do not find what they are looking for in the wide range, STS Sensortechnik also offers the development of individual solutions.
