SIL2/PLd certified QG series DIS sensors

DIS Sensors meets this requirement and has extended the sensors of the QG series with extensive, redundant CANopen safety sensors for the benefit of safety-critical applications. This involves inclination sensors and acceleration sensors.

Tilt sensors measure the tilt angle in one or two axes. The DIS designs are based on robust MEMS technology. The modular design/structure allows the sensors to be easily adapted to specific needs. In addition, it is also possible to customize the sensors themselves to your preferences using CAN commands.

Accelerometers measure acceleration in 1, 2 or 3 axes. In addition, these sensors are based on MEMS technology.

Safe versions SIL2 and PLd
With the availability of the "safe" version of the QG sensors from this series, the range of applications is considerably extended. In addition, the components are certified according to SIL2 as well as PLd. In both cases, it is a method to quantify the risk limitation of a machine or plant. Most machine builders use PL (Performance Level according to ISO 13489) because of the somewhat simpler approach. SIL (Safety Integrity Level (= Safety Requirement Level SAS) according to IEC 62061) has more variables and more complicated formulas, but it is more complete, especially when documenting and recording data, for example in relation to management activities and the creation of a functional safety plan. More and more companies are asking for this data.
The safety is based, among other things, on the redundant (double) function, the fact that the communication is carried out via the CANopen safety protocol EN50325-5 (CiA304) and the continuous verification of the correct function of all components.
