New regulations in the field of container handling

Sensors with a high degree of shock load and vibration resistance are required for use in container handling equipment. Lifting a load requires immediate measurement and detection of the weight of the load. Undesirable circumstances, such as two containers hooked together, cause a huge increase in load within a very short time. Force sensors must be able to detect sudden force influences so that they can be further processed in fast safety electronics.

Safety guidelines have become more stringent in recent years and tolerances for safety systems have become smaller. For this reason, only force sensors with a high degree of accuracy should be used to monitor static and dynamic forces. Together with a higher-level safety system according to DIN EN ISO 13849-1, which collects, evaluates and processes the signal, our force sensors can exhibit Performance Level e or SIL 3.

A sensor is always a solution of mechanical strength and accuracy. Sensors designed for high overloads generate only low load signals. The amplifiers built into the sensors must therefore have low inherent noise and good gain to amplify the signal to the desired output.
