Optimized torque measurement in engine test benches
2015-09-07 04:27:00, Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer GmbHHBM Test and Measurement (HBM) is developing the PMX measurement amplifier system, a precise and interference-free measurement technology platform for test benches to increase the performance of engines.
New filter and scaling options for torque measurement allow precise use in partial-range operation. The torque sensor can be scaled via the highly accurate polynomial characteristic curve or characteristic table with automatic clockwise/anticlockwise rotation detection in the PMX.
HBM has implemented the CASMA (Cranc Angle Synchronous Moving Average) filter for the PMX with moving averaging over the angle of rotation. The new filter design is used, for example, for crank angle-synchronous moving averaging to determine the cylinder-dependent torque distribution.
PMX generates in real time parameters such as power, average and peak values up to torque control by means of PID controller. The PMX amplifier system with its open communication interfaces, in combination with powerful HBM torque sensors, ensures efficient test processes in the automotive sector.
