Sensors from ASC ensure more safety and comfort in rail traffic

The company will be showcasing its product portfolio for rail technology at InnoTrans 2018 in Berlin.

The capacitive accelerometers and inertial measurement units (IMUs) are characterized by a whole range of outstanding features.

The ASC 4421MF (uniaxial) and ASC 5525MF (triaxial) accelerometers are particularly suitable for the fatigue analysis of vehicle components as well as complete trains. They have a frequency range of 0 Hz to 7 kHz (typ. ±3 dB) and a high shock resistance of up to 6,000 g. The ASC 4311LN and ASC 4411LN sensors, on the other hand, can be used to improve the ride comfort of rail vehicles.

When monitoring bridge structures, many users employ the ASC CS series sensors because they guarantee loss-free signal transmission even over very long distances thanks to their 4-20 mA current output signal.

The detection of track bed vibrations is also important for operational safety in rail traffic, as it can be used to detect subsidence of the subgrade. For applications in this field, ASC offers the ASC OS series accelerometers, which are extremely durable and also hermetically sealed. They offer a measuring range between ±2 and ±200 g, are shock resistant up to 6,000 g (ASC OS 125MF) and are supplied in a robust stainless steel housing. The ASC OS-315LN triaxial accelerometers also feature the lowest spectral and broadband noise and, like all of ASC's low-noise sensors, have an excellent signal-to-noise ratio.

The ASC IMU 7.x.y. is mainly used in railroad engineering for monitoring the position of trains.
